A Community Rising Stronger
In December 2021, Typhoon Odette (Rai) devastated Siargao, leaving in its wake destroyed homes, damaged infrastructure, and a community in urgent need of recovery. As one of the Philippines' most beloved islands, known for its natural beauty and world-class surfing spots, Siargao’s spirit has always been its greatest strength. But in the aftermath of the typhoon, this resilient community needs our support more than ever.
The Impact on Siargao
The typhoon tore through homes, schools, medical facilities, and livelihoods, displacing thousands of families and leaving entire communities without access to clean water, food, or healthcare. Many areas are still struggling to rebuild as they face challenges like damaged roads, power shortages, and disrupted communication lines. Beyond the physical damage, the emotional toll has been immense for those who have lost everything.
Isla Medical Foundation’s Response
At Isla Medical Foundation, we are committed to being part of the solution. Our Rebuild Siargao initiative focuses on delivering immediate relief and long-term recovery efforts to help the island get back on its feet. Through medical missions, we are providing critical healthcare services, treating those injured in the typhoon and offering medical support for illnesses caused by unsanitary conditions and lack of clean water.
Our work doesn’t stop at healthcare. We are also helping rebuild essential infrastructure like health clinics and providing support for trauma counseling, ensuring the well-being of those affected.
How You Can Help
